The first films of MIFF 2024 have arrived!
The Melbourne International Film Festival have unveiled the First Glance at their exciting 2024 program, ahead of the full program landing on Thursday 11 July.
Below are a few of the highlights from this first look, all of which will be screening during the festival this August.

Memoir of a Snail - Opening Night Gala
The eagerly awaited stunning new feature from Academy Award winner Adam Elliot.
This beautifully hand-crafted stop motion marvel is a touching coming-of-age story like no other. Filmed in Melbourne and featuring an all-star cast of local talent including Sarah Snook, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jacki Weaver, Eric Bana, Magda Szubanski and Nick Cave.
Ellis Park - Music on Film Gala
Everyone can impact the world around them in their own way; in the dark times of the COVID-19 pandemic famed musician Warren Ellis found his way to make a difference. This new feature documentary from director Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Nitram) details how Ellis took stock of his life, and used this time to set up an animal sanctuary in Sumatra.

Menus Plaisirs - Les Troisgros
Founded in 1930 in central France, the Troisgros family restaurant has been holding 3 Michelin stars for 55 years over four generations. In his 44th feature documentary, legendary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman takes us into the kitchen and explores this family’s culinary world as the restaurant is handed over to the 4th generation of Troisgros chefs.
